Ruby Copper Manufacturing Process

Advanced Copper Tube Production for HVAC & Refrigeration Applications

Ruby Copper applies a modern and fully integrated manufacturing process to ensure stable quality, high precision, and reliable performance for HVAC, refrigeration, and industrial copper tube applications.

Our production system combines continuous casting, rolling, drawing, annealing, and packaging technologies to meet international standards and customer-specific requirements.

A. Continuous Casting and Rolling

The production process begins with a closed and continuous system that integrates:

  • Melting
  • Casting
  • Surface milling
  • Rolling

High-purity copper cathodes (Cu ≥ 99.95%) together with selected recycled copper materials are melted in a single furnace system.

To improve material quality and remove oxygen content, Cu-P alloy with phosphorus content of 13–15% is added at approximately 1.8–1.9 kg per ton of copper during the melting process.

Production Capacity

  • Melting capacity: approximately 1 ton/hour

After casting, the mother tube is formed with:

  • Diameter: 90 mm
  • Wall thickness: 23.5 mm
  • Maximum length: 19 meters
  • Approximate weight: 890 kg/tube

The tube is then straightened and surface-milled to remove surface impurities. Around 4% of the material is milled off and recycled back into the furnace to optimize material utilization.

Following surface treatment, the tube is processed through a planetary rolling machine.

After Rolling

  • Final rolled diameter: Ø48–50 mm
  • Wall thickness: 2.3–2.5 mm
  • Rolling speed: 12–18 m/min

The rolled tube is then coiled for the next production stage.

B. Combined Drawing Process

The rolled tube enters the horizontal combined drawing machine, where diameter and wall thickness are further reduced with high dimensional precision.

Process Specifications

  • Drawing speed: 40–50 m/min
  • Coil cage diameter: 2.2 meters

After this stage, the tube dimension reaches:

  • 38 mm × 1.75 mm

The material is then prepared for final drawing.

C. Final Drawing Process

The final drawing operation is performed using a high-speed spinner block machine.

The tube passes through precision inner and outer dies, gradually reducing both outer diameter and wall thickness until reaching the final customer specification.

Technical Capability

  • Maximum drawing speed: up to 1,000 m/min
  • Minimum achievable tube diameter: 4 mm

This process ensures:

  • High dimensional accuracy
  • Smooth surface quality
  • Stable mechanical properties

D. Coil Forming and Straight Tube Production

After final drawing, tubes are transferred via crane systems to different finishing lines depending on product requirements.

Ruby Copper produces:

  • Level Wound Coil (LWC)
  • Pancake Coil (PC)
  • Straight Copper Tubes

Straight Tube Production

For tube sizes above 22.22 mm — beyond spinner block machine capacity — production is performed using a dedicated straight-tube drawing machine.

Input materials are sourced from either the rolling process or combined drawing stage.

Maximum Straight Tube Size

  • Ø42 mm

E. Annealing Process

LWC and Pancake Coil tubes undergo annealing treatment to optimize mechanical and surface properties.

Annealing helps:

  • Stabilize grain structure
  • Maintain surface brightness and color
  • Reduce material hardness
  • Improve flexibility and workability

The process is carried out in a protective atmosphere furnace using a controlled mixture of:

  • Nitrogen (N₂)
  • Hydrogen (H₂)

Straight copper tubes do not require annealing.

F. Packing and Export Preparation

Ruby Copper applies customized packing solutions depending on product type and customer requirements.

Standard Packing Methods

  • LWC coils: packed on wooden bobbins
  • Pancake coils: packed in carton boxes
  • Straight tubes: protected with nylon wrapping

Customized export packaging solutions are also available to meet international transportation and customer-specific standards.

Commitment to Quality Manufacturing

Through continuous investment in mod

  • HVAC manufacturers
  • Refrigeration systems
  • MEP contractors
  • Industrial applications
  • International export markets

Ruby Copper remains committed to providing reliable copper tube solutions with consistent quality, precision manufacturing, and global supply capability.
